The Western Sydney Wanderers 3-1 loss in the Sydney Derby at the weekend typified greatly how the club is traveling on the pitch at the moment.
The added burden of competing in the Asian Champions League has left the reigning Premiers looking listless.
With ACL Match Day 2 just around the corner, the schedule does not look to ease for A-League teams as the Wanderers prepare to play their 2nd and 3rd matches in an 8-day span, a dilemma which will surely plague them again given then length of the Champions League.
In Guizhou Renhe (ACL) and Adelaide United (A-League) the Wanderers will, at least, face teams that are also coming off defeats. Losses to either of these teams will have drastic implications for them on the ladder however, rendering these games almost 'must-win' if they want to participate in post-season football.
Can the Wanderers display the typical tough western Sydney spirit and get some results in the next few weeks, or are we finally starting to see the onset of second-season-sydrome?
