Harry Kewell’s farewell game unfortunately didn’t go according to plan for Melbourne Heart with the Wanderers defeating the home team 3-2 tonight.
The Wanderers opened the scoring in the 27th minute through Nicolai Topor-Stanley, however Heart responded with one by Engelaar. Both teams were tied 1-1 heading into the break.
Kewell almost put one behind Ante Covic in the 62nd minute, which would have been a perfect way to send the Socceroo off in his final match, however he was unsuccessful with Covic just manaing to get a hand to it.
Hoffman put the home team in front in the 72nd minute. Santalab levelled up the scores for the second time in the match just after the 80th minute. However, with so much riding on a win, the Wanderers turned to Hersi who scored the winning goal with four minutes remaining.
The Wanderers now get a week off as they finished second on the competition ladder, with a chance to recuperate before they start their finals campaign.
Can the Wanderers go all the way?
