The Western Sydney Wanderers fell short in claiming their second win of the A-League season against Sydney FC at Pirtek Stadium last Saturday.
The Wanderers were looking to revert back to their winning form, which saw them win convincingly against Kashima Antlers in their opening Asian Champions League match earlier this week.
New signings, Kerem Bulut and Yusuke Tanaka made their A-League debuts for the Wanderers in a chaotic game, which saw seven goals, five yellow cards and a send off.
The game kicked off and the RBB erupted. It took only 10 minutes for the Wanderers to slip, which saw an own goal by keeper Ante Covic to give Sydney FC an early lead. Not long after that further agony was imposed on the RBB as the fans saw their side let in two quick goals by Sydney FC striker Marc Janko.
3-0 after 25 minutes.
The game seemed to be lost, another painful derby, which the boys from the west would rather forget, but this was not the case.
A goal from Iacopo La Rocca and two sensational goals from Bulut brought the game back to level pegging. Game on.
Pirtek Stadium grew louder as the RBB and fans sang in unison to encourage the Wanderers to pull off one of the greatest derby wins in history.
This was not to be the case as Sydney FC sealed the match in the 73rd minute with a goal from Terry Antonis.
It was a disappointing result for the Western Sydney Wanderers.
The Wanderers next match is against Guangzhou Evergrande in the Asian Champions League at Pirtek Stadium this Wednesday night.
