The Western Sydney Wanderers will be chasing a first-ever round-one A-League victory when they host Brisbane Roar in Thursday night's season-opener.

In the three years since the club's inception, Tony Popovic's men have not managed to kick off a single campaign with a win.

But a new season and a host of new faces also means new expectations in front of home fans at Pirtek Stadium, says forward Romeo Castelen.

"We are very confident and we had a good pre-season so everybody is motivated to start this game and start a good campaign."
